Richard "Dick" Frank

Richard “Dick” Frank, age 81, of Schaller, Iowa died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Schaller Cemetery. Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements. Richard Herbert Frank was born March 6, 1933 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of John Herbert and Margaret Louise (Onn) Frank. As a child, he was baptized into the Methodist faith. Dick attended school in Galva, Iowa, graduating from Galva High School in 1951. On January 18, 1953 Dick was united in marriage to Betty Marie Barlow at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. Together they were blessed with four children: Rick, Roger, Larry, and Linda. In 1954, Dick was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church where he remained an active member. Dick’s passion was farming, which he spent his whole life doing. He also had a special love for John Deere tractors. When he was not farming, he served his community as a 4-H leader and a Pee-Wee baseball coach. Dick treasured his family and enjoyed attending sporting events, field trips, and “special person days” with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dick also enjoyed working at CPS talking to farmers and being one of the “old guys” crew. Dick and Betty were lifelong friends with Russell and Sally Jennett. They enjoyed a lifetime of laughter and sorrow. Dick enjoyed his short time in his condo in Storm Lake. He talked often of his visits with Sally and her children. Dick will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Rick (Rona) Frank of Paullina, Iowa; Roger Frank of Ida Grove, Iowa; Larry Frank of Schaller, Iowa; Linda (Russell) Hinkeldey of Galva, Iowa; grandchildren: Stacy Ackermann, Becky (Dan Horkey) Streiff, Camille (Kent) De Zeeuw, Ross Frank (Danielle Crannell), Justin (Angela) Frank, Emily (Tyler) Leinbaugh, Kay Lynn (Austin) Hildebrand, Laura (Matt) Page, Nathan Frank (Nichole McAllister), Jared and Christian Hinkeldey, great-grandchildren: Ethan, Raelee, Jaxson, Lillian, Kaydee, Aubree, Skylar, MaKinzie, Harper, and Violet; brother, Joseph (Betty) Frank of Holstein, Iowa; sister, Helen Cameron of Alta, Iowa; nieces; nephews; extended family and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents; grandchild, Fredrick Hinkeldey; daughter-in-law, Sandra Frank; granddaughter-in-law and granddaughter, Dani and Piper.
