Ralph R. Seng Jr.

Ralph R. Seng Jr., age 81, of Aurelia, Iowa died Friday, May 5, 2023 at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia. Funeral services will take place Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in ALTA. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements. Ralph Robert Seng Jr. was born January 14, 1942 to Ralph and Marie (Thorhauer) Seng in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was baptized as an infant in Pittsburg. Ralph confirmed his faith in 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia where he remained a faithful member. Ralph attained his GED from Brentwood High School in 1960. That same year, Ralph joined the U.S. Army where he served until his discharge in 1992. During his service, Ralph received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (Second Award), Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. On May 19, 1989, Ralph was united in marriage to Vivian Elaine Porath in Woodbury County. After working for the International Pipe Machinery Company in Sioux City, Iowa for over thirty years, Ralph retired in 2004. Ralph was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working on cars and attending car shows. Ralph was talented in woodworking, remodeling, and carpentry. He loved cooking and was very good at it. More than anything, Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ralph is survived by his wife, Elaine Seng of Aurelia, Iowa; children: Tim (Trudy) Seng of Merrill, Iowa; Marcee (Raymond) Nelson of Sioux City, Iowa; Traci (Dan) Sliefert of Alta, Iowa; Todd Frederick of Laurens, Iowa; Rex (Lorraine) Porath of Jefferson, South Dakota; Robbie (Robin) Porath of Culpeper, Virginia; 30 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Robert Seng and Marie Tarr; stepson: Tim Frederick; stepdaughter: Tammy Frederick; and his grandparents.
