Norene Martin

Norene Martin, age 76, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Norene Marie Ripke was born July 12, 1937 in Storm Lake, Iowa the daughter of Raymond and Maria (Gerke) Ripke. On July 25, 1937, she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake where she was later confirmed in 1951. Growing up, Norene attended Zion Lutheran School in rural storm Lake where she graduated in 1951. She then continued her education at Albert City High School in Albert City, Iowa where she graduated with the class of 1955. On December 9, 1956 Norene was united in marriage to Marion Eugene Martin in Storm Lake, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with three children: Brenda, Denise, and Brian. Norene was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where she served on the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club, Albert City Garden Club and numerous card clubs. Norene was a farm wife for several years where she enjoyed helping her husband on the farm and raising her children. Later, she worked outside of the home at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in housekeeping and as a cook. Norene loved to travel out West and also loved going to Branson to see all of the shows. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending her granddaughter, Angelaâ€™s, band and orchestra concerts and going to her grandson, Justinâ€™s, football and track meets. Family was very important to her and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Brenda (Mick) Koeppe of Storm Lake, Iowa; Brian (Sandy) Martin of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Angela (Ryan) Weitzel of Sac City, Iowa; and Justin (Jennifer) Koeppe of Ankeny, Iowa; great grandchildren: Colin and Spencer Koeppe of Ankeny, Iowa; Micah Weitzel of Sac City, Iowa; brother, Melvin (Judy) Ripke of Rembrandt, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dale (Joan) Martin of Storm Lake, Iowa; Gilbert (Joan) Phillips of Des Moines, Iowa; Gerald (Elaine) Carlson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Joyce Hoskins of Minneapolis, Minnesota; extended family and many friends. Norene was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Maria Ripke; her husband, Marion Martin; daughter, Denise Martin; and mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Edna Martin.
