Myron Louis Sievers

Myron Louis Sievers, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral services will take place Friday, August 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Myron Louis Sievers was born on March 28, 1934 to Louis and Martha (Boettcher) Sievers. He was baptized and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Storm Lake, where he was a lifelong member. Myron attended grade school at Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Newell High School in 1952. On March 21, 1954, Myron was united in marriage to Jane Swanson at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Debra, and three sons: Scott, Todd and Trent. Jane and Myron farmed and raised cattle & hogs together on their farm south of Albert City for over 50 years. Myron loved to build his own buildings and always included his children’s help to pound a nail or pour concrete. In 1997, they purchased a home in Albert City. Jane passed in 2004 and Myron continued to live in Albert City until moving into Otsego Place assisted living in Storm Lake in the fall of 2020. Myron was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where he held several offices through the years and was a loyal dart ball player. He was also President of the ALCECO Elevator Board in Albert City. Myron was a 4H leader and beef superintendent. He emceed the junior feeder show at the county fair for many years, where he enjoyed “interviewing” the 4Hers as the judge looked over their cattle. Myron was inducted into the Iowa 4H Hall of Fame in 2005. He also served on the Farm Bureau State Young Members Committee and County Board of Directors, as well as the BV County Beef and Pork Producers. Myron never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting and playing cards with family and friends. He especially loved giving you the “sheep” when playing the card game “Sheepshead”! Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debra (Tom) Witt of Newell, Iowa; sons: Scott Sievers of Storm Lake; Todd (Laura) Sievers of Albert City, Iowa; Trent (Jill) Sievers of Albert City, Iowa; grandchildren: Brad (Tracy) Sievers; Jill (Eric) Miller; Steven (Emily) Sievers; Jared Witt; John (Allie) Witt; Chris (Brooke) Sievers; Katie (Dexter) Mahrt; Mitchell (Bradi) Sievers; Nick (Kylie) Sievers; Jenny (Kal) Swanson; great-grandchildren: Tate, Knox, Brady, Cade, Colton, Jensen, Emmett, Eliana, Nolan, Breckin, Maelle, Gavin, Carter, Drake, Remi, Brexley, Maverick, Vivian, Kaisyn, Millie; sister-in-law: Marian Williams; brother-in-law: Harold Soethout; as well as many other relatives and friends. Preceding Myron in death is his wife, Jane (Swanson) Sievers; parents: Louis and Martha (Boettcher) Sievers; parents-in-law: Hilbert and Ruby Swanson; brothers: Perry (Dorothy) Rathke; Stanley (Joan) Sievers; sister: Marcella Draege; sister-in-law: Norma Soethout; daughter-in-law: Judy Sievers; and great-grandson: Nash Sievers.
