Mary Ann Sippel

Mary Ann Sippel, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa died April 28, 2013 in Johnston, Iowa. Mary Ann Wattier was born April 29, 1928 in Carroll, Iowa the daughter of Michael and Rose (Maystadt) Wattier. Growing up, she attended school in Early where she graduated from Early High School. Following high school graduation, Mary attended the Commercial Extension School of Commerce in Omaha, Nebraska. On January 26, 1948, Mary was united in marriage to Joseph K. Sippel at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. Mary was currently a member of the Bishop Drumm Parish in Johnston. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, St. Josephâ€™s Catholic Church in Schaller and St. Maryâ€™s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She was active in the Sacred Heart Guild, Catholic Daughters, Cursillo and Search. Mary was a loving wife and mother of 13 children. She enjoyed attending their sporting events. A special memory of Maryâ€™s was in 1994 the pilgrimage to Medjugorje and the Vatican with her husband and three sons and one daughter. Mary always enjoyed the annual Sippel family reunion at Ron and Maureenâ€™s home in New Buffalo, Michigan. Family was very important to Mary and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Joe Sippel of Johnston, Iowa; children: Dr. Joe (Mary) Sippel of Omaha, Nebraska; Jim Sippel of Austin, Texas; John (Colette) Sippel of Roselle, Illinois; Rick (Cindy) Sippel of Ankeny, Iowa; Ron (Maureen) Sippel of Evanston, Illinois; Robert (Joanne) Sippel of Lombard, Illinois; Carl (Leesa) Sippel of Kent, Washington; Michael (Lori) Sippel of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; Scott Sippel of Wheaton, Illinois; Rose (Jim) Fitzpatrick of Omaha, Nebraska; Kathy (Bob) Pertzborn of Ankeny, Iowa; Therese (Colin) Parker of Tarpon Springs, Florida; Melissa (Sean) McDonald of Stewartville, Minnesota; grandchildren: Emily Sippel, Andrew Sippel, William Sippel, Jon Sippel, Shelly (Jose) Hernandez, Matt (Megan) Sippel, Jennifer (Garrett) Oakley, Eileen (Andy) Duin, Christy Thompson, R. David Sippel, Anna Rose Sippel, Scott Pertzborn, Amanda Pertzborn, Aaron (Kathleen) Sippel, Jessica (Juan) Rodriquez, Jason Sippel, Daniel Sippel, Kevin Sippel, Madison Sippel, Alison Sippel, Julia Sippel, Mary Kate Sippel, Rebecca Sippel, Nicholas Parker, Nicole Parker, Megan McDonald, Connor McDonald, Rachel McDonald, Haylee Sippel, Hayden Sippel; great grandchildren: Nicki Hernandez, Olivia Hernandez, Raven Sippel, Richard Thompson, Eliana Thompson, Natalie Sippel, Claire Sippel, Lily Oakley, Corinne Oakley, Elliotte Duin; brothers: Don Wattier and Mike Wattier; sisters: Betty Dahm, Kathryn Dick, Beverly Thiel, and Judy (Gene) Havermann; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Rose Wattier; sister, Ruth Ann; and grandson-in-law, Stephen Thompson.
