Lynne Johnson

Lynne (Bennigsdorf) Johnson, age 34, of Alta, Iowa, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died August 16, 2023 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will take place Monday, August 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta, Iowa. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. On August 24, 1988, Keith and Lorie Bennigsdorf were blessed with a daughter, Lynne LuAnne Bennigsdorf in Storm Lake, Iowa. Lynne was baptized and confirmed her faith at the St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 2007. She graduated from Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota in 2011. Growing up, Lynne enjoyed going on missionary trips through Iowa District West. She loved sports and was a member of the Storm Lake High School swim team. She later played the viola in the Cherokee Symphony. Nine years ago, Lynne met the love of her life, Deryl J. Johnson. They were united in marriage on December 31, 2022 at the Waterfront in Okoboji, Iowa. Lynne was great at her job as a social worker and medical care coordinator and she enjoyed the people that she worked with. In her free time, Lynne loved traveling and golfing with Deryl on Sunday mornings. She cherished time spent ice fishing with her dad, brother, and grandpa - and it wasn’t about the fishing. Lynne enjoyed trips to the casino and was always a winner. Her favorite sports teams were the Twins, Vikings, and Hawkeyes. She was crafty and had an interest in repurposing items that she would find at flea markets or farmers markets. Lynne also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially Deryl’s favorite carrot cake. She was known as an excellent gift giver to her family and would generously gift her friends blankets to welcome their new babies. Lynne was a special aunt that made her nieces and nephews feel loved and adored. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Lynne is survived by her husband, Deryl Johnson of Alta, Iowa; parents: Keith and Lorie Bennigsdorf of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandparents: Russell and Clara Bennigsdorf of Ida Grove; brother: Kurtis (Megan) Bennigsdorf and children, Nathan and Lauren of Fonda, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Jessica (Bo) Axler; Amanda (Kyle) Olson; Clare Stephan; nieces and nephews: Ayden, Loki, Cambren, Braxton, Waylon, and Haylee.
