Lorene Ripke

Lorene Ripke, age 90, of Albert City, Iowa died March 15, 2015 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural, Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Lorene Wilhelmine Sophia Koth was born July 5, 1924 in rural Galva, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Olga (Grieme) Koth. In 1924, she was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Hanover, Iowa. She was then confirmed in 1940. Lorene attended school at St. John Lutheran School in Hanover. On November 25, 1951, Lorene was united in marriage to Herbert Ripke at St. John Lutheran Church in Hanover. Together they were blessed with four daughters: Needra, Brenda, Yvonne, and LeAnn. Lorene was currently a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in rural, Storm Lake. She participated in the church choir, LWML, and Seward Guild of the Storm Lake Chapter. Lorene also was on the quilt sewing committee for Lutheran World Relief. Lorene spent her life as a farm housewife. In her spare time, Lorene and Herb enjoyed traveling, be it a short distance or a chance to see the mountains. Lorene loved genealogy and collecting family pictures. She also like to read, do crossword puzzles, and spend time in her garden. Later in life, she enjoyed bird watching. Most of all, Lorene loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Needra Ripke of Truesdale, Iowa; Brenda Bayliss of Buffalo, Wyoming; Yvonne (Darrell) Veencamp of Cherokee, Iowa; LeAnn Ripke of Albert City, Iowa; grandchildren: Ryan (Amy) Bayliss of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Samuel Bayliss of Buffalo, Wyoming; Aaron Veencamp of Cherokee, Iowa; great grandchild, Ian Bayliss; brother, Harold (Elmerna) Koth of Belgrade, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Marvin (Edna) Grote of Storm Lake, Iowa; sister-in-law, Lois Koth of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; numerous nephews and nieces; extended family and friends. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ripke; parents, Emil and Olga Koth; brothers: Orville, Melvin, Vernon, Arthur (Lois), Marvin (Elaine) Koth; sisters: Opal (Werner) Dierenfeld, Vera (Hershel) Branstetter, Mildred (Lambert) Bredehoeft; Norma (Lester) Heinecke; Elaine Wiedman; brother-in-law, Martin Ripke; sister-in-law, Eldora Ripke.
