Lorene Ann Prchal

Lorene Ann Prchal, age 89, of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away November 12, 2021 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Lorene Ann Kayl was born November 13, 1931 in Lynch, Nebraska the daughter of Carl and Anna (Boska) Kayl. Growing up, Lorene attended school at St. Mary’s in O’Neill, Nebraska where she graduated high school in 1949. Following high school graduation, Lorene was employed at a telephone company for five years in Omaha, Nebraska. On May 1, 1954, Lorene was united in marriage to Thomas Prchal at St. Patrick’s Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with five daughters: Donna, Karen, Connie, Nancy and Julie. In December of 1954, Lorene and Thomas moved to Storm Lake, Iowa where they began their family. Lorene worked at Storm Lake Community School and St. Mary’s Catholic School as a cook in the kitchen. Lorene enjoyed playing cards with many different card clubs and coffee gatherings with friends. During the winter months, she traveled to Arizona where her and Thomas would reside. Lorene loved music, especially country and polka and enjoyed attending dances. In her spare time, she treasured doing embroidery work and word search puzzles. Lorene loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking and making family dinners. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Thomas Prchal of Storm Lake, Iowa; daughters: Donna Prchal of Roseburg, Oregon; Karen (Paul) Fitzpatrick of West Des Moines, Iowa; Connie (Bruce) Hoffman of Guttenberg, Iowa; Nancy (Shane) Lenhart of Storm Lake, Iowa; Julie (John) Williams of Council Buffs, Iowa; grandchildren: Erin (Don) Likens; Kelly (Keith) Harding; Erica (Nick) Blocker; Scott (Courtney) Fitzpatrick; Kaila (Steffen) Baumgarten; Allison (Wes) Hammers; Isaac Hoffman; Nathan (Ellie) Lenhart; Riley Lenhart; Ian Williams; great grandchildren: Jade and Camille Harding; Kiersten, Mackenzie and Coleson Blocker; Lux Lenhart; Mason Hammers; Henry Fitzpatrick; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and friends. Lorene was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Meinerts; father, Carl Kayl; son-in-law, Preston Thompson; and great grandson, Henry Fitzpatrick.
