Laura Madsen

Laura Konradi Madsen, age 76, of Storm Lake, Iowa died May 12, 2015 in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, May 15, 2015 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Laura Gregory was born September 27, 1938 in Dewey, Oklahoma the daughter of Luke and Magdelina (Debrackeleire) Gregory. She grew up in Rock Island, Illinois and later moved to Pocahontas, Iowa, where she met Floyd Konradi. On June 16, 1955, Laura and Floyd were united in marriage at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas. Together they were blessed with two boys, James and Michael. Together they raised the family as Floyd worked for the City of Storm Lake. After James and Michael left the home, Laura started working at the Pink Elephant and the Sail Inn Motel. She also worked as a housekeeper at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. She retired on April 20, 2011. After Floyd’s death in 1982, Laura married Bill Madsen on April 6, 1989 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, Iowa. They resided in Alta until Bill’s death. Laura returned back to Storm Lake, where she lived for her remaining years. Laura was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and was dedicated Saturday night attendee. Laura was a member of the Alta VFW Women’s Auxiliary. In her spare time, she loved to shop and play BINGO. Most of all, Laura loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, James (Kris) Konradi of Storm Lake, Iowa; daughter- in-law, Janice Konradi of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren: Julie Bucci and Mitchell Konradi; step grandchildren: Chad Mobley and Salenna Duffle; great grandchildren: Dominic Bucci, Jasmine Bucci; step great grandchildren: Kelsea Duffle, Kaleigh Duffle, Chad Mobley, Sami Hall, Sierra Finnegan, Alicia Bucci, Brent Sitzman, Jessica Sitzman, Mariah Parker, and Candie Parker; sisters: Joan (Ron) Trenary of Rolfe, Iowa; Lois Holmberg of Storm Lake, Iowa; extended family and friends. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Floyd Konradi and Bill Madsen; and son, Michael Konradi.
