Kenneth Delano Lindquist

Kenneth D. Lindquist, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Wall Lake Cemetery in Wall Lake, Iowa. Visitation will take place Monday, June 20, 2016 from 5-7:00 with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Kenneth Delano “Ken” Lindquist was born January 23, 1934 on a farm near Early, Iowa, the son of Nils Elmer and Bessie (Carlson) Lindquist. In his youth, he was baptized and was later confirmed in the Catholic church. Ken attended country school near Odebolt. In 1952, he graduated from Early Consolidated. After graduation, he briefly worked in the trucking business before joining the United States Army. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1962. He then spent six years in the United States Army Reserves. On December 27, 1955, Ken was united in marriage to Marian Blass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids. Together, they were blessed with four children: Kathy, Kenny, Kim, and Kevin. Ken was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids where he served as an usher. Farming was a lifelong passion of Ken’s. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. Ken also loved reading and watching his grandchildren in their activities. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marian Lindquist of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Kathy (Rod) Reiling of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Kenny (Paula) Lindquist of Albert City, Iowa; Kim (Steve) Conover of Odebolt, Iowa; Kevin (Jamie) Lindquist of Albert City, Iowa; grandchildren: Brad (Michelle) Reiling, Todd (Megan) Reiling, Tricia Reiling, Ryan Reiling, Jake (Brittany) Reiling, Katie Reiling, Josh Reiling, Tyler (Taryn) Lindquist, Andrea Lindquist, Nicole (Brad) Peter, Connor Lindquist, Grant (Jaime) Brecher, Heath (Jay) Brecher, Terrin Brecher, Devin (Ashley) Conover, Derek Conover, Kaleb Lindquist, Ethan Lindquist, Tanner Lindquist; great grandchildren: Blake, Beau, Brekken, Lleyton, Liam, Tysen, Coby, Kailynn, Jackson, Maya, Addison; brother, Robert Lindquist of Seattle, Washington; sisters: Carol Hutton of Le Mars, Iowa; Mary Wayne of Sun City, Arizona; brother-in-law, Lonnie (Polly) Blass of Casey, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Joan (Dick) Cook; Donna Erickson; parents-in-law, Leonard and Irene Blass; and lifelong friend, Robert Westcott.
