Jo Ann Selleck

Jo Ann Selleck, age 77, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Friday, April 15, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place Monday, April 18, 2016 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Lakeshore Center at Okoboji, 1864 Highway 86, Milford, Iowa 51351. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. . Jo Ann Crary was born May 15, 1938 in Cherokee, Iowa the daughter of Corwin and Elma (Nelson) Crary. She was baptized at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee where she was later confirmed. Growing up, Jo Ann attended school in Larrabee where she graduated from in 1956. Following high school graduation, Jo Ann furthered her education at Buena Vista College where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. On June 12, 1960, Jo Ann was united in marriage to James Rowland Selleck at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Together, they were blessed with three children: Janet, Jeffrey, and Julie. Jo Ann was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. She was very active in church activities and served on numerous boards for the church such as elder, deacon, Church Women United, Presbytery Resource Librarian, Presbyterian Women, Church Librarian, Stephen Minister, and various others. Jo Ann worked as a teacher at Sulphur Springs and Odebolt. She also worked at Siefer Consultants and Buena Vista University. Organizations that Jo Ann belonged to include the American Scandinavian Foundation Chapter and the Witter Gallery Board. More than anything, she treasured her family. Jo Ann and Jim made frequent trips to see their children and grandchildren. During these times she simply loved to visit with family and coax people into taking a bike ride or going for a walk. Jo Ann and Jim were also frequent hosts for their family who loved to come back to the farm where Grandma always had a deep freeze full of everyone’s favorite desserts. All of the grandkids have many special memories of their time on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa. In her spare time, she enjoyed biking and walking with Jim, especially around the lake and they made frequent trips to Lake View and Okoboji. She also had a keen interest in genealogy and photography. Her photos were frequently included in many community publications. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, James R. Selleck of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Janet Puff of Redondo Beach, California; Jeff Selleck (Ann Toohey) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Julie Pacifici (Mario) of Newbury Park, California; grandchildren: Maria (Joseph) Morgan; Julia (Devin) Lee; James W. Selleck (Caroline Gravois); Lena, Noah, Ava, and Caleb Pacifici; great grandchildren: Emma and Colton Morgan; Devyn Lee; sister, Yvonne Amundson of Cherokee, Iowa; extended family and many friends. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Corwin and Elma Crary.
