Jerrie Rene Bobolz

Jerrie R. Bobolz, age 71, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Newell Good Samaritan Society in Newell, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, October 16, 2015 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Jerrie was born May 4, 1944 in Spencer, Iowa, a twin daughter of Gene and Irene (Barber) Firebaugh. She was raised on a farm as an infant in Sioux Rapids until 1950, then moved to Sulphur Springs. She was baptized into the Christian faith in the Church of Christ. She received her education in the Sulphur Springs Providence Consolidated School until 1960, and continued at Storm Lake Senior High. In 1970, she married Donald Arthur Bobolz of Cherokee at Elks Point, South Dakota. The couple lived in Storm Lake where Jerrie was a housewife. The union was blessed with two daughters, Janet and Julie, and sons, Terry and Gene Bobolz. She was a long term member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Jerrie spent most of her life in the Storm Lake area. During all this time she enjoyed being with her family and being close to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved camping, fishing, sewing, embroidering, and crafts, as well as her plants. She loved dances, karaoke, and was on a pool league. At one time her league wore sweatshirts and was called, “The Fun Time Gals”, then they changed their name to honor Veterans. She always enjoyed her music and loved to dance. She carried her camera at all times and was especially called, “The Picture Lady”. She was good at helping others in need. Her special time was with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with close friends. She liked playing cards, loved meeting people, and always had a smile. Among those who will lovingly remember her and cherish their memories of Jerrie are her best friend, Don Bobolz of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Julie (Pete) Pedersen of Storm Lake, Iowa; Gene Bobolz of Lakewood, Colorado; Terry (Alicia) Bobolz of Lakewood, Colorado; brother, Larry (Sandy) Firebaugh of Marathon, Iowa; sister, Karen (Bill) Eickhoff of Orange City, Iowa; grandchildren: Chris Wunder, Rachel Wunder, Stevie Pedersen, Harrison Pedersen, Dylan Bobolz, Alyssa Bobolz; great grandchildren: Justin Wunder, Alexis Wunder, Mason Wunder, Aiden Pulec; as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, especially close friends: Dee Witte, Marj Rudolph, Addy Appleseth, Char Ulrich, Carolyn Wilson, as well as other close friends. Proceeding in death are her daughter, Janet (Bobolz) Brown; parents, Gene and Irene; twin sister, Jackie Jean Firebaugh; aunt and uncles: Dick and Ethel Barber, Bob and Mary Ada Barber, Alice Barber; cousins, Dr. Roscoe and Cynthia Gutekunst; very special Aunt Alberta and Ernie Gutel; cousin, Alberta Nolan; grandparents: Harold and Ruth (Jefferies) Barber, Glenn and Mary Mae (Chapman) Firebaugh; great grandparents: Wm and Selina Barber, Curtis and Cynthia (Portor) Firebaugh; close friend, Shirley Herzog.
