Janette Meyer

Janette M. Meyer, age 79, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake surrounded by her family. Janette Marie Madsen was born July 25, 1934 in Emmet County, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Emma (Andersen) Madsen. Growing up, she attended elementary and high school in Ringsted, Iowa where she graduated in 1953. After graduation, she furthered her education in Des Moines at the LaJames College of Cosmetology. On April 2, 1956, Janette was united in marriage to Donald E. Meyer at the St. Maryâ€™s Catholic Church in Mallard, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with four children: Bryan, Dennis â€œZekeâ€, Pam and Jim. Janette later became a member of St. Maryâ€™s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where she was active in the Guild and Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of the firemen wives group, Ladies Sparklers. Janette held several jobs outside the home, but her favorite job was tending to her family. In her spare time, Janette enjoyed wood working with her husband Don, playing cards and games with her grandchildren, and many crafts. Family was very important to Janette and she treasured the time she was able to spend with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her great grandchildren, Trevor and Brooke, who she loved spending her Friday lunches with. They held a special place in Great Nanaâ€™s heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Bryan (Joanne) Meyer of Whittemore, Iowa; Dennis â€œZekeâ€ (Stacy) Meyer of Rembrandt, Iowa; Pam (Marty) Winebrinner of Jefferson, South Dakota; Jim (Tracy) Meyer of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren: Nicholas Meyer, Megan (Alex) Lenz, Brittany Meyer; Chris (Jessica) Meyer, Bobbi Meyer (special friend, Sean Sullivan), Brandie (Dustin) Wenham, Nicole Olney (special friend, Bret Hamilton), Holly Meyer, Angela Meyer, and Tanya Meyer; great grandchildren, Trevor and Brooke Meyer; sister, Carol Sheehan of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Arnold Jensen of Ringsted, Iowa; Richard Meyer of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces; nephews; extended family and many close friends. Janette was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Emma Madsen; parents-in-law, Edward and Blanche Meyer; husband, Donald Meyer who died on October 11, 2013; 2 infant brothers; 3 sisters: Lois Jensen; Janice Sutton, Janetteâ€™s twin sister; and Shirley Thompson.
