Janet Smith

Janet Smith, age 64, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at her home in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Janet Kay Stimson was born August 15, 1951 in Jefferson, Iowa, the daughter of Noel and Helen (Hoffman) Stimson. Janet attended school at Storm Like High School where she later graduated. Janet was united in marriage to Timothy M. Smith. Together they were blessed with three boys: Todd Anthony, Tyler Noel, and Jason Michael. Janet was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She was also a member of the guild. Janet enjoyed golfing in her younger years, and was an avid reader. She loved going on the annual winter vacation to Mexico or taking day, or week long, adventures on the motorcycle. Janet liked to shop, and was sure to keep herself and her home stylish. She kept a welcoming home, and always looked forward to hosting friends and family every 4th of July. Most of all, Janet cherished the time she spent with her family, especially when it involved visiting her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Timothy Smith of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Todd (Jen) Smith of Scandia, Minnesota; Tyler (Rebecca) Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; Jason (Hollie) Smith of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren: Chloe and Cooper Smith of Ankeny, Iowa; Emily Smith of Fargo, North Dakota; Elizabeth Smith of Woodbury, Minnesota; sister, Diane (Jim) Nichols of Casa Grande, Arizona; extended family and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Noel; brother, Phil Stimson; great nephew, Cody Anderson; father and mother-in-law, Michael and Mary Smith; brother-in-law, TQ Smith; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Smith.
