Gwendolyn "Gwen" Henrich

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Henrich, age 86 of Newell, Iowa died on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Newell. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. To watch recording of the service, please visit Gwen's tribute wall. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Storm Lake. The family requests that all guests in attendance wear a mask and social distancing is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Society- 415 W Hwy 7 Newell, Iowa 50568; Varina United Methodist Women- 321 Main St. Varina, Iowa 50593; or to the Buena Vista County Historical Society- 214 W 5th St. Storm Lake, IA 50588. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Gwendolyn Mae Meseck, the daughter of Erwin “Curly” and Viola (Andersen) Meseck, was born on July 30, 1934 in Elk Township in Buena Vista County. Growing up, she attended local schools; graduating from Hayes Township High School where she was the class valedictorian. On April 4, 1954, Gwen was united in marriage to Charles Henrich at the First Methodist Church in Newell. The couple was blessed with four children: Steven, LeAnn, Stanley, and Lori. Gwen was active in her community and was a lifetime member of the Varina United Methodist Women and Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. In both organizations, she held numerous offices. She was also a member of the Buena Vista County Historical Society where she worked until the age of 83. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Steven (Linda) Henrich of Joplin, Missouri; LeAnn (Jeff) Millar of Angels Camp, California; Stanley (Joleen) Henrich of Newell, Iowa; son-in-law, Aaron Waldner of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Mark Henrich, Nick Henrich, Dr. Kelsey Millar, Logan Millar, Benjamin (Patti) Henrich, Jami (Shawn) Georgiades, Alyssa (Mark) Henrich, Jonathon Waldner; great-grandchildren: Aiden Henrich, Savannah Henrich, Lisa Henrich, Adam Henrich, Paisleigh Georgiades, Sienna Alfieri; roommate, Dorothy Curry; Varina United Methodist Women; a host of first cousins; extended family and friends. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Viola Meseck; daughter, Lori Waldner; and 27 aunts, uncles and their spouses.
