Ethel Ruth Harvey

Ethel Ruth (Pepper) Harvey, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Ethel was born in Arthur, Iowa to George and Nettie (Leber) Pepper on March 30, 1927. She graduated from Galva High School then attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked at the First National Bank in Sioux City after graduation. Ethel met her soul-mate, Dwain Harvey, while attending school at Galva. They were united in marriage on July 20, 1951. They were blessed with two children, a daughter, Jennie and a son, Randy. She was a homemaker, a member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church, a member of the funeral committee in former years, an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, needle work, playing games, and working crossword puzzles. Ethel had many titles… a loving daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and friend. She loved and enjoyed her family immensely, always had a positive outlook and put others first. She was loving, kind, honest, and generous. Ethel had a great sense of humor, and she was a wonderful role model. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, and she leaves behind a great legacy. She is survived by her daughter, Jennie Klopfenstein, Pleasant Hill, Iowa; son, Randy (Ardine) Harvey, Storm Lake, Iowa; sister, Margaret Way, Boone, Iowa; brothers: Russell (Shirley) Pepper, Storm Lake, Iowa; Vernon (Betty) Pepper, Spencer, Iowa; one grandson, Jeff (Lisa) Klopfenstein, Des Moines, Iowa; four granddaughters: Brandy (Scott) Jones, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Amy (Keith) Wilken, Earlham, Iowa; Tasha (Paul) Bloyer, Holmen, Wisconsin; Kata (Dillon) Shindelar, Adel, Iowa; eight great grandchildren: Addison, Abry, Lahna, Sydney, Ella, Carson, Evan, Joelle; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dwain Harvey; parents, George and Nettie (Leber) Pepper; sister, Lucille (Joyce) Reinert; brothers: George “Bud” Pepper and Melvin Pepper; and son-in-law, Joe Klopfenstein.
