Esther Louise Lamb

Esther Louise Lamb, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Esther Louise Wilhelmina Gerke was born March 24, 1921 in rural Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Hoberman) Gerke. As an infant, she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, where she was later confirmed in 1935. Esther received her education through the eighth grade at Zion Lutheran Parochial School. After graduating from school, she worked for neighbors doing housework. On February 27, 1949, Esther was united in marriage to Raymond Stieghorst. Together, they were blessed with three children: Diane, Donna, and Darlene. Raymond passed away on September 15, 1972. She was a stay-at-home mom until the death of Ray when she went back to work doing house cleaning. Esther later married Robert Lamb on May 24, 1980. Bob passed away on June 15, 2003. Throughout Esther’s life, she was always willing to help others. After her children left home, she continued to housekeep for neighbors and friends. Esther was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and quilting. Most of all, Esther loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Diane Christiansen of Harrisburg, South Dakota; Donna (David) Dose of Storm Lake, Iowa; Darlene (Blaine) Perry of Aurelia, Iowa; grandchildren: Daniel Christiansen; Deborah (Adam) Passick and their children, Riley and Tegan; Benjamin (Rebecca) Dose and their children: Jonathan, Timothy, Lydia, and Hannah; Joshua (Jennifer) Dose and their children: Kaytlynn, David, Carson, and Trinity; Matthew (Stephanie) Dose and their children, Emberlyn and Brecken; Amanda (Justin) Coffey; Adam (Rainie) Perry and their children: Hunter and Piper; Brooke (Regis) Michelena and their child, Hattie; Andrew (Elizabeth) Perry and their child, Danika; brother-in-law, Clifford (Doris) Schmidt of Storm Lake; Robert Lamb’s children: Nancy Mayo, William Lamb, Andy Lamb and their families; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Raymond Stieghorst and Robert Lamb; son-in-law, Gary Christiansen; great grandson, Noah Dose; siblings: Ewaldt (Alice Miles) Gerke, Wilbert Gerke, Raymond Gerke, Elda (Herbert) Johnson, Clarence Gerke, Arlene (William) Speers Schmidt, and Donald Gerke.
