Elnora Theresa Kelsey

Elnora T. Kelsey, age 96, of Newell, Iowa died October 30, 2013 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell. Elnora Theresa Klein was born January 16, 1917 in Remsen, Iowa the daughter of Michel and Anna (Gehrens) Klein. She was baptized at St. Maryâ€™s Catholic Church in Remsen. Growing up, she received her education in Plymouth County Public School and St. Maryâ€™s in Remsen. Later in life, she attended Samuels School of Cosmetology in Sioux City, Iowa. She was very active in hair dressing where she operated a beauty salon in Remsen and also in Onawa, Iowa. On June 14, 1944, Elnora was united in marriage to Dr. W. P. Kelsey of Des Moines, Iowa. Together, they resided in Remsen before moving to Onawa and then to Newell in December of 1949. They were blessed with two sons, William Patrick and Robert Michael. Elnora was a member of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda, Iowa and was active in the Holy Family, Catholic Daughter Organizations, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Little Flower Missionary Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and homemaking. Elnora loved playing cards as a hobby. Family was very important to Elnora and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons: W. Patrick and Nan Kelsey; Robert â€œBobâ€ and Maureen Kelsey; grandchildren: Patrick and Amanda Kelsey and their children: Meghan, Kara, and Lauren Kelsey; Matthew and Laura Kelsey; Kaitlin Kelsey; Liz and Devin Kruse and their children: Allison and Miles Kruse; Mike and Stef Kelsey and their children: Robbie, Katarina, Reid and unborn son due in two weeks; Nick and Tosha Kelsey and their son, J.W. Kelsey; sisters: Marcy Weber and Kathleen Hansen; extended family and friends. Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, Michel and Anna Klein; husband, Dr. W. P. Kelsey; sister, Sylva (Al) Roder; brothers: Martin (Clara) Klein; Elmer (Melinda) Klein; Jim (Cathleen) Klein; Ray (Carmen) Klein; Joe (Jean) Klein; and Irvin Klein; brother-in-law, Ed Weber; brother and sisters-in-law: Pauline (Roland) Mosier; Mary Jane (Harry) Petty; Norma (Dale) Bell; and one granddaughter, Allison Kelsey.
