Elda Jorgensen

Elda Jorgensen, age 95, of Newell, Iowa died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center. Elda Louise Krog was born June 10, 1917 the daughter of Hans Chris and Alma (Bartels) Krog in Newell. She was baptized at St. Johnâ€™s Lutheran Church in rural Albert City, Iowa where she was later confirmed. Growing up, Elda attended country school and later graduated from Newell High School in 1935. On April 28, 1942, Elda was united in marriage to Oscar W. Jorgensen in Omaha, Nebraska. Together, they were blessed with four children: Robert K., Keith E., Ronald L., and Janene A. Elda was a member of Nain Lutheran Church in Newell where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed helping out and completing bookwork for the farm. Elda loved her pets and visiting with neighbors and family. Family was a very important part of Eldaâ€™s life. She treasured playing games and telling stories to her grandchildren. Elda will forever be remembered by her family for the many sewing projects she shared with them. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Robert K. (Beverly) Jorgensen of Newell, Iowa; Keith E. (Kathy) Jorgensen of Greenfield, Iowa; Ronald L. (Molly) Jorgensen of Lakeside, Iowa; Janene A. â€œTootieâ€ (Larry) Adams-Grote of Newell, Iowa; grandchildren: Steven C. Jorgensen; Shawn Jorgensen; Staci (Kirk) Kempwerth; Sian (Kevin) Butler; Andrea Yager; Maija Jorgensen; Nick Jorgensen; Chris (Jill) Adams; Jamie (Jenny) Adams; John Jorgensen; Dallas (Chris) Cornish; Mclaine (Sisomphone Mahavong) Jorgensen; Farell Jorgensen; great grandchildren: Shane Lyman; Shanda (Jerry and son Kurt) Lyman; Ryan (Kristine) Jorgensen; Justin (Jessica) Jorgensen; Jason Jorgensen; Meghan Jorgensen; Julia and Brittany Butler; Erica Yager; Elik and Eliana Mattis; Elle Jorgensen; Carson and Denisyn Adams; Cassidy and Justine Jorgensen; Natalie and Naunie Jorgensen; soon to be welcomed, Riley Ann Adams; great great grandchildren: Carter and Addelyn Jorgensen; Gavin and Alexis Jorgensen; Aden Butler; Matthew Lyman; extended family and friends. Elda was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar in March 1999; parents, Hans Chris and Alma Krog; great granddaughter, Cynthia Jorgensen.
