Dolores Marie Zimmer

Dolores Marie Zimmer, age 80, of Early, Iowa, died June 20, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Early. Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Dolores “Dee” Marie Zimmer was born March 16, 1941, to John and Lucille (Duckett) Faber in Storm Lake, Iowa. She attended Sacred Heart High School in Early, Iowa where she graduated in 1959. Dee was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa and was also a member of the Guild. She married the love of her life, Richard Glenn Zimmer on August 8, 1959 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. Dee and Rich were blessed with seven children: Michael, Kathleen, Roger, Leanne, Boyd, Sharon, and Patrick. Her greatest joy was being with her husband and raising her seven children. She always felt blessed that she was able to stay at home. Dee loved woodworking, crafting, and traveling with her husband through his work. She found much joy in sharing her homemade cinnamon rolls for her family and friends. In later years, Dee enjoyed spending time with all of her family. Her ultimate joy was knowing that she was part of the family of God! Her favorite verse was John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life!” Because the Lord Jesus was her Savior, as now she is eternally in God’s family and a part of the greatest story ever told! Those left to cherish Dee’s memory include her children: Michael (Vickie) Zimmer of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Kathleen (Dale) Grundmeier of Stuart, Iowa; Roger (Trina) Zimmer of Stratford, Iowa; Leanne (Mike) West of Remsen, Iowa; Boyd (Roxanna) of Early, Iowa; Sharon Benna of Early, Iowa; Patrick (Hiedi) Zimmer of Early, Iowa; brother: Joseph Faber of Wichita, Kansas; 27 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; 4 nephews; 1 niece. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Zimmer; parents, John and Lucille Faber; parents-in-law, Glenn and Jenny Zimmer; brother, Edward Faber; sisters-in-law, Marlys Faber and Barb Faber; grandchildren, Thomas Zimmer and Pete Zimmer; great-grandchild, Eve Sollars.
