Dengkham Khounlo

Dengkham Khounlo, age 55, of Storm Lake, Iowa died May 14, 2021 in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will take place Monday, May 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery at a later date. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dengkham "Kham" Khounlo was born June 10, 1965 in Vientiane, Laos to Van and Heuang Khounlo. Kham was just 10 years old when his family came to the United States. Kham enjoyed fishing and valued time with his family and friends. His nieces and nephews will remember him as their uncle that loved them dearly and treated them as if they were his own kids. He loved his family and the time he could spend with them. He was known for his infectious smile and his playful personality; he was a kid at heart and loved making everyone laugh. Kham was kind-hearted, loving, and known for his big smile and fun spirit. In 2015, friends and family were especially grateful when Kham met the love of his life, Amphayvanh, a kind-hearted gentle soul like himself. On December 19, 2015, they were united in marriage. Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Amphayvanh Khounlo; stepdaughter, Chaithip Kankahm of Laos; his brothers: Bao Khounlo, of Storm Lake, Iowa; Mike (Suzzan) Khounlo, of Ankeny, Iowa; Duke (Phonethakeo) Khounlo, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and Chay (Bounthiang) Lo of Denison, Iowa; mother-in-law, Chanthy Manivong of Storm Lake, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law; Souksavanh Manivong of Laos; Latdavanh (Vattana) of Laos; Sisavanh (Kengkai) of Laos; Daravanh (Nick) Lovan of Storm Lake, Iowa; Nancy (Kalvin) Riley of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; nieces and nephews: Barbie (Keo) Synarong; Minna (Nalinh) Sithep; Toni (Kevin) Minard; Skyler Khounlo; Jimmy (Christine) Khounlo; Sommay Khounlo; Brandi Khounlo; Eric (Charlie) Khounlo; Justin Lo, Jessica Lo; Jaclyn Lo; Sheldon (Brooklyn) Lovan; Travis Lovan; Narissa Lovan; Deena Riley; Kitana Riley; Jaida Riley; Jace Riley; as well as many great nieces and nephews that loved their "Tao Kham." Kham was preceded in death by his parents, Van, Heuang and Dzome Khounlo and sister, Bor Khounlo.
