Delbert "Del" Sievers

Delbert "Del" Sievers, age 82, of Arnolds Park, Iowa formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Lake Park Care Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow at the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Delbert Arlo Sievers was born March 6, 1934 in Storm Lake the son of Otto and Lenora (Minden) Sievers. Growing up, he attended school in Storm Lake where he graduated from Storm Lake High School. One of his best memories of high school was playing football. Following high school graduation, Del enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956. Upon his return home from the service, Del was united in marriage to Carol Ann Murphy of Newell, Iowa on April 22, 1956. Together, they were blessed with two children: Kimberly and Paul. Del was employed by IPS and worked as a line foreman for 45 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where he served as the Superintendent of the Sunday School. Del was also a member of the Storm Lake Jaycees and Elks Lodge. In his spare time, Del enjoyed all water sports especially boating and water skiing. Del loved being outdoors fishing and camping every weekend. One could also find Del dancing, which was something he loved. Family was very important to Del and he treasured the time he was able to spend with family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Kimberly (Mitch) Quirin of Storm Lake, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Marcia Hoffard of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Joshua (fiancé, Sandra Rogers) Quirin of Des Moines, Iowa; Crystal (Adam) Spray of Waterloo, Iowa; Caren Sievers of Des Moines, Iowa; Connor Sievers of Storm Lake, Iowa; great grandchildren: Mason, Nolan and Olivia; brother: Darold (Terra) Sievers of Storm Lake, Iowa; niece and nephews: Curt, Jill, and Mark; aunt-in-law, Frances Mennenga of Belmond, Iowa; extended family and friends. Del was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lenora Sievers; and son, Paul Sievers.
