Darrell Allan Pritchard

Darrell Allan Pritchard, age 75, of Alta, Iowa passed away August 15, 2022 at his home in Alta. Memorial services will take place Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements. Darrell Allan Pritchard was born October 8, 1946 in Charles City, Iowa the son of Robert and Arylne (Hayden) Pritchard. As an infant, he was baptized at the Catholic Church in Charles City. Growing up, he attended school in Omaha, Nebraska where he graduated from Benson High School. Following high school graduation, Darrell attended the University of Nebraska Omaha where he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. On January 6, 1973, Darrell was united in marriage to Rebecca Wells in Omaha. Together, they were blessed with two sons: Matthew and Ryan. Darrell and Becky moved to the Storm Lake area in 1975 and later built their house on Lake Street in Alta. Darrell worked as the Clinic Administrator at the Buena Vista Clinic in Storm Lake for almost 40 years until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of the Iowa Medical Group Management and the Alta Golf & Country Club where he served on the board. Darrell loved many things in his life but especially golf, Husker Football and his family. Darrell treasured golfing and spent many hours on the golf course with Boo-Boo and the boys. He was the King of Gadgets evidenced by his golf cart! Saturdays in the fall were spent with Ryan watching football and of course the Huskers. Go Big Red! Anybody that knew Darrell knew that he loved mustard and has passed his love of mustard to Ryan and Hudsen. He also enjoyed going to the casino and traveling to Puerto Rico, Baltimore and Arizona. The last couple summers he greatly enjoyed helping Ryan coach Hudsen’s baseball team. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family. He loved the role as Papa D to May, Hudsen and Dawsen. He was the best Papa D. Darrell will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Becky Pritchard of Alta, Iowa; son, Ryan (Kristen) Pritchard of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: May Wells Pritchard; Hudsen Lee Pritchard and Dawsen James Pritchard; daughter-in-law, Alison Pritchard of Baltimore, Maryland; brother, Jim Pritchard of Anthem, Arizona; sister, Janice Pritchard of Omaha, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Rich (Sharalyn) Wells; sister-in-law, Candice Wells; nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Arylne Pritchard; twin brother, Dave Pritchard; son, Matthew Pritchard; brother-in-law, Jim Wells; and parents-in-law, LeVern and Leona Wells.
