Chris (Wiley) Tomford

Chris (Wiley) Tomford, age 54, of Early, Iowa died Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Holstein, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will take place Friday, January 8, 2016 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Chris Wiley was born December 1, 1961 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of David Arthur and Irene (Anderson) Wiley. Chris was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell where she was later confirmed. She attended school at Newell Providence where she graduated in 1980. Chris continued her education at Iowa Central where she earned a degree in social work. On August 23, 1996, Chris was united in marriage to Kirk Tomford at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Tiffany and Lindsay, and a step-son, Joe. Throughout her life, Chris worked as a CNA at various nursing homes. She also worked at Westside Café in Newell. More recently, Chris was employed by the Storm Lake High School as a cook. She enjoyed her job and always liked to watch the kids grow and mature from 9th – 12th grade. Chris enjoyed crafts, picnics, driving in the countryside to look at nature, and attending outdoor concerts. She was a big sports fan, and especially liked track and baseball. She will be remembered for loving her cats and dogs. Most of all, Chris cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and the mini vacation fun with her sisters once a year. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Tiffany (Jeff) Titus of Cherokee, Iowa; Lindsay (Chris) Handy of Anthon, Iowa; step-son, Joe (Freedom) Bunkers; grandchildren: Ashtyn Titus, Tarynn Titus, William Tittus, Jaxson Bunkers, Max Bunkers, and one highly anticipated grandbaby on the way; brother, Mike Wiley of Cherokee, Iowa; sisters: Colleen (Dan) Marchant of Buckeye, Arizona; Bev (Paul) Sangwin of Aurelia, Iowa; Barb (Dean) Phillips of Alta, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; extended family and friends. Chris was preceded in death by her parents, David and Irene Wiley; husband, Kirk Tomford; infant brother, Steven Wiley; brother, Mark Wiley; sister, Cheryl Bruns; niece, Kerri Sangwin; and many aunts and uncles.
