Carolyn A. Stull

Carolyn A. Stull, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa died March 13, 2021 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. A celebration of life will be September 18, 2021 at held at the Chautauqua Park Shelter House in Storm Lake, Iowa from 12:00-7:00 p.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Carolyn was born September 7, 1932, the daughter of Glen and Dorothea (Heschke) Shannon, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Carolyn graduated from Storm Lake High School. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Carolyn served on the BV Manor Quality Board for many years. On February 18, 1951, Carolyn was united in marriage to Dean Stull in Storm Lake, Iowa. Dean and Carolyn were blessed with nine children, raising them on a farm northeast of Storm Lake: David, Jane, Cindy, Diana, Randy, Cheryl, Sonya, Nick and Lonny. In her younger years, Carolyn focused on raising her family, helping Dean with farming duties, gardening and canning. She also operated the Hen’s Nest Gift Shop. Carolyn enjoyed playing cards and board games and crafting. She especially liked cooking for family gatherings, no one ever left hungry. Many visitors found this out as she never would let you leave without something to eat. The Stull farm served as a summer home for many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Some of the memories at the farm include helping in the garden, picking mulberries, and twirling in the tire swing. Carolyn lived on the farm until after Dean’s death in 2004 when she purchased a home in Storm Lake. She then sold her home in 2018 and moved to Wel-Life where she became reacquainted with many old friends and made many new ones. Those left to cherish Carolyn’s memories include her children; Jane Madden of Storm Lake, Iowa, Cindy (Marvin) Wernimont of Cherokee, Iowa, Diana (Leland) Beery of Alta, Iowa, Cheryl (David) DeMan of Rembrandt, Iowa, Sonya Weier of Lake Mills, Iowa, Nick Stull of Ames, Iowa and Lonny (Renee) Stull of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother, DeWayne (Mary) Shannon of Royce City, Texas; sisters, Shirley Severson of Alta, Iowa and Betty Holm of Hardy, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and one on the way; many nieces, nephews, and their families. Carolyn was preceded in death by parents, Glen and Dorothea Shannon; husband, Dean; sons, David and Randy Stull; granddaughter, Nicole Hummel; brother, Lloyd Shannon and sister, Marian Crawford. Carolyn will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
