Carolyn L. Hinners

Carolyn L. Hinners, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa died September 21, 2022 at the Pleasantview Home in Albert City, Iowa. Funeral services will take place Monday, September 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the S.O.S. Thrift Store in Storm Lake or St. Croix Hospice. Carolyn Lois Hinners was born on April 22, 1940 to Louis and Leah (Sievers) Schramm in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Growing up, Carolyn attended Storm Lake Schools and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1958. On October 15, 1960 Carolyn married the love of her life, Ronald E. Hinners of Laurens, Iowa, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. The couple was blessed with four children: Brenda, Beth, Becky, and Jeff. In 1965, Carolyn was confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where she remained a lifelong member. She was active in the SOS store through the church. Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper for Iowa Public Service, Bernard Kennedy, CPA, Gary Rosine, CPA, and Iowa Feeder Supply. In 1980, Ron and Carolyn purchased Carp’s Farm Service which then became Ron’s Farm Service. Carolyn served as company bookkeeper until they retired in 1998. In 2004, the couple purchased a home in Kearny, Arizona where they spent winters each year golfing and meeting new friends. Carolyn also enjoyed bowling, reading, and completing crossword and picture puzzles. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald Hinners of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Brenda Shehadey of Murrieta, California; Beth Bittner of Ankeny, Iowa; Becky Harger of Fairbanks, Alaska; Jeff (Amy) Hinners of Ankeny, Iowa; sister: Ramona Smith of Foresthill, California; grandchildren: Alyssa (Dave) Sutherland of Montezuma, Iowa; Nicole (Tyler) Kendhammer of North Pole, Alaska; Kyle Bittner of Des Moines, Iowa; Kamella (Aaron) Buck of Murrieta, California; Amber (Evan) Buttree of Charlotte, Tennessee; Amira Shehadey of Stamford, Connecticut; Atta Shehadey of Santa Clara, California; Tysir Shehadey of Murrieta, California; Mitchell Hinners of Ankeny, Iowa; Paige Hinners of Ames, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Hayden, Teagan, and Rylee Sutherland; Ryan and Jameson Kendhammer; extended family and friends. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Leah Schramm; brothers: Lowell Schramm; Virgil Schramm; sister: Betty Fritz; brothers-in-law: Earl Fritz and John Smith; sisters-in-law: Juanita Schramm and Kay Schramm.
