Brian K. Borchardt, age 55, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on September 15, 2022, at Odebolt Specialty Care in Odebolt, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 4-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Brian K. Borchardt was born on August 2, 1967 to Darold and Carol Elaine (Eggen) Borchardt in Vermillion, South Dakota. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chester, South Dakota and attended school at Chester Area High School until his graduation in 1985. Brian received his bachelor’s degree in 1989 from the University of South Dakota School of Business. After college, he worked at Wohlenberg Ritzman and Co. LLC in Yankton, South Dakota. Brian moved to Storm Lake in 1990. He worked at Rosene and Co. and later Don’s Farm Supply in Newell, Iowa. Brian was united in marriage to Robin Eddy on September 12, 1992 at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake, Iowa. Brian and Robin were blessed with two children: Logan and Jordyn. While the couple later divorced, they remained close lifelong friends. Brian was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church where he served as treasurer. He was on the Balloon Days Committee and the Storm Lake Jaycee’s. On game day, Brian could be found cheering on the Vikings, Timberwolves, or the Twins. He enjoyed playing golf and slow pitch softball. In his free time, Brian loved reading, especially novels by John Grisham or Stephen King. More than anything, Brian valued time with his family and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Left to cherish Brian’s memory are his children: Logan of Alta, Iowa; Jordyn (Brandon) Iehl of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Julian and Beckham Iehl; brother: Dean (Sonja) Borchardt of Brandon, South Dakota; nieces and nephews: Carter, Cole and Addison Borchardt; aunt and uncle: Ron and Diane Odegaard of Lac Cruces, New Mexico; extended family and friends. Brian is preceded in death by his parents: Darold and Carol Borchardt; and grandparents: Arnold and Ellen Eggen; Otto and Augusta Borchardt.
