Beulah Jane Imming

Beulah Jane Imming, age 86, of Fonda, Iowa died peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on Friday, February 10, 2023, at the MercyOne Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. A visitation will be held Monday, February 13, 2023 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cathlic Church in Fonda, Iowa. The visitation will resume Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 9-10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. all at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Fonda, Iowa. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Beulah Jane Imming was born on May 29, 1936, to Charles and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Miller in Fonda, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic (OLGC) Church in Fonda. Beulah attended school at OLGC School and graduated in 1954, achieving the Iowa Bar Award at graduation. She went on to attend the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating in 1957. Beulah then started working at the Buena Vista County Hospital (later Buena Vista Regional Medical Center) until her retirement after 42 years as a nurse in 1999. Beulah was united in marriage to Art Imming on February 15, 1958, at the OLGC Church. The couple was blessed with four children: Bev, Doug, Ray, and Matt. Beulah loved serving her community. Of the many groups she was active in, most recently she was a member of the Iowa American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of America, where she served as Grand Regent, BVRMC Auxiliary and Scholarship Committee, Red Hat Society, and the executive committee for the Women in Denim conference. Beulah was also one of the original volunteers with Freedom Quilts from Varina. She loved to share their mission of comforting fallen service member families and would often recount their trip to New York City after 9/11 when they shared their quilts with family members of those lost, toured Ground Zero, and flagged down a city bus for a ride. Beulah loved cheering on the Newell-Fonda and St. Mary’s sports teams even after her children and grandchildren were no longer playing! She was also a big fan of the University of Northern Iowa football team where her grandson played. Her kids and grandkids could always count on her to attend any activity that they took part in. Beulah loved to travel. She orchestrated many family vacations through the years to all parts of the U.S. Beulah and Art celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary with a Caribbean Cruise and most recently completed many items on her bucket list with a 12-day trip to New York City, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania last August. Beulah loved her family over everything and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Art Imming of Fonda, Iowa; children: Bev (Rick) Vanderslice of Overland Park, Kansas; Doug (Coleen) Imming of Storm Lake, Iowa; Ray (Patty) Imming of Fonda, Iowa; Matt (Hollie) Imming of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren: Jake Vanderslice, Zach Vanderslice, Matthew (Jinda Guidinger) Vanderslice; Marisha (Pat) Gonzalez, Janie (James) Cornelius; Eden (Jordan) VanDerSloot, Kathryn (Juan Espinoza) Imming; Maddie (Marten de Boer) Dugan, Paige Dugan, Carter Imming, Keanan Imming; great-grandchildren: Leo and Sadie Gonzalez; Logan, Anna, and Zoey Cornelius; Aiden and Emmett VanDerSloot; aunt: Alsie Fitzgerald of Waukee, Iowa; extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Catherine Miller; sister, Pat Oder; and Art’s eight brothers, sisters, and their spouses.
