Betty L. Peck

Betty L. Peck, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 5-8:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 5:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Due to road construction, we are only accessible from the west on Highway 7. We apologize for any inconvenience. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Betty Lou Lynch was born April 11, 1934 in Battle Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Catherine (Schierneck) Lynch. Betty was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church in Ida Grove. She attended grade school at Ida Grove, and graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1953. On February 14, 1955, Betty was united in marriage to Raymond (Bud) Peck at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with six children: LuAnn, Raenette, Penny, Timothy, Tammie, and Tony. Betty was always a hard worker. She began working as a waitress and grocery clerk. Betty then moved to Storm Lake to begin working for a lumber yard. She really enjoyed her years working for Iowa Turkey Express and Fiedler Trucking as a bookkeeper and dispatcher. Betty was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where she served on the Guild. She also volunteered as a Brownie Leader. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed BINGO, sewing, and crocheting. She could play Skip-Bo and talk on the phone for hours. Betty loved music and sang at many weddings and gatherings. Every song was her “favorite”. In her younger days, Betty and Bud loved dancing at the Cobblestone in Storm Lake and the Lakewood Ballroom in Lake View. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her dog, Sally. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: LuAnn (Bud) Hott of Newell, Iowa; Raenette (Larry) Marshall of Rochester, Minnesota; Tony (Kirsten) Peck of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren: Chanda Hott of Bloomington, Illinois; Kelly (Aaron) Brock of Tustin, California; Nathan Hott of Iowa City, Iowa; Jaden (Erica) Peck of Perth, New York; Devin Peck of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great-grandchildren: Noah, Cameron, and Bayla Brock of Tustin, California; Tony, Kylie, Jacob, and Jaxon Peck of Perth, New York; sisters-in-law: Berniece Henke of Cherokee, Iowa; Katie Letts of Cherokee, Iowa; Lois Peck of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother-in-law, Bob (Kathy) Peck of Storm Lake, Iowa; extended family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Peck; infant children: Penny, Timothy, and Tammie; brother, Delas Lynch; and sisters, Marsh Haakinson and Kay Klein.
