Betty J. Banks

Betty J. Banks, age 88, of Holstein, Iowa and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. There are no scheduled services. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Betty had a twin sister, Bonnie, whom she cherished so much in this life. They were born on November 25,1936 to Charles and Mary Bourne. The couple had 5 children, Mildred, Calvin, Dorothy (who passed before the twins were born), Bonnie and Betty. Betty spent most of her life on the west coast, growing up in Oregon and then meeting and marrying her spouse Howard Banks in California in 1955. They would eventually reside in Arizona. They raised three children, James, Richard, and Jeannette. She worked a variety of jobs in her life, first as a secretary, then in retail and then was hired by the state of Arizona to drive children with special needs. She retired in 1979. Several years ago she moved back to Iowa. She made an impression on many people here in Iowa including her dear friends from her church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Many of whom cared for her in the last stages of her life. Betty had a lot of hobbies: sewing clothes for her children, crocheting blankets, which her great grandchildren treasure to this day, cross stitch, and crossword puzzles; but her passion was for the Lord. Betty loved Jesus! This was evident by the numerous times she read through her Bible, by the way she always talked about God when you called and ended each conversation with God Bless, and by how each time she would meet a new significant other she would quiz them about their love for the Lord! This ensured that she and the loved ones around her were on the right path. Often towards the end of her life she would say she was ready to go to her Lord, always with a smile of hope! We hope and pray that this desire has become her reality and now she is in the arms of Jesus, at peace for eternal life. She will be missed by many, including her son Richard and his children; Jessica, Kelly and Joshua. Her daughter Jeannette and son in law, Timothy Scott Loraditch and their children; Timothy (Geneveve), James (Fiancée Patricia) and Jennifer (Charlie) Spooner. And by many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin Bonnie, her siblings, spouse Howard and son James Worthington.
