Becky Dirkx

Becky Dirkx, age 71, died peacefully at her home in rural Storm Lake, Iowa on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 surrounded by family. Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, July 5, 2021 from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. Memorials may be made in Becky's name to the St. Mary's School Foundation. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Rebecca Susan Dirkx was born December 13, 1949, in Storm Lake, Iowa to Donald and Eunice (Peterson) Main. Becky graduated from Storm Lake St. Mary’s high school in 1968 and received an associate’s degree from the Spencer School of Business in 1969. Becky married Richard Dirkx on October 4, 1969, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. They were high school sweethearts and celebrated 51 years of marriage. They were blessed with 4 children: Jeff, Jodi, Dave, and Scott. She was a devoted wife and mother and especially enjoyed her responsibilities as a grandmother. Summer visits by grandchildren were a highlight for kids, grandparents and parents alike. Becky and Richard attended countless activities and sporting events for their children and grandchildren. Their love was evident in their attendance and time dedicated to family. While raising their family, Becky and Richard built a successful farming enterprise. She helped in every aspect of farming, from managing finances to operating equipment. She dedicated her time and talents as a Girl Scout leader, secretary of the school board and was part of the St. Mary’s Guild and Catholic Daughters. After raising her family, she worked for the AEA as an audiometrist. She loved to travel with Richard, recently to Alaska and Yellowstone, in addition to visiting friends and family across the country. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Richard Dirkx; children: Jeff (Anne) Dirkx of Grimes, Iowa; Jodi (Shawn) Benberg of Grimes, Iowa; Dave (Jen Kopriva) Dirkx of Norwalk, Iowa; Scott (Amanda) Dirkx of Norwalk, Iowa; grandchildren: Bennett and Oliver Dirkx; Austin, Aidan, and Ashton Benberg; Natalie and Morgan Dirkx; Alex Kopriva; Lucas, Isaac, and Brynleigh Dirkx; sisters: Bev Reis of Wichita Falls, Texas; Patti Sampers of Lakewood, Colorado; Jackie (Rick) Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa; Janet (Bill) Engler of Sac City, Iowa; Cathy Bueb of Clive, Iowa; Nita (Dennis) Miller of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Bob (Jody) Main of Germany; brother-in-law, Bob Miller of Garden City, Kansas and numerous extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Eunice Main; sister, Sondra Miller; infant brother, John Donald Main; parents-in-law, Elmer and Emma Dirkx.
