Tomasa Ibarra

Tomasa Ibarra, age 67, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Saturday, October 14, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Tomasa was born June 5, 1956. She was baptized into the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Tomasa graduated high school and went on to receive her cosmetology license. In the 1980’s Tomasa immigrated to the United States, settling in California with her three children. She left the sunshine in California to move to Minnesota in the 1990’s. She worked in turkey and egg production. In 2018, Tomasa moved to Iowa to live with her daughter, Brenda. Tomasa loved cooking for others and going thrift store shopping. She also enjoyed completing crosswords and going dancing. She was an animal & dog-lover and cared for numerous dogs throughout her life. Tomasa was a strong willed and caring woman. She fought for her family and was the most loyal friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish Tomasa’s memory include her children: Maria (Omar Sr) Ledezma of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Jaime (Christalee) Castaneda of Adrian, Minnesota; Brenda (Humberto) Castaneda Mendez of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother: Oscar Ibarra of Wichita, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and sisters; an infant grandson; and life partner Salvador Talamantes.
