Mayra Alejandra Lopez Zavala

Mayra Alejandra Lopez Zavala, 30, of Storm Lake, died this past Friday, December 15, in a car accident. Her mother, Maria Zavala, also died with her. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Church of New Beginnings Assembly of God in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 1-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Mayra was born on December 10, 1993 in Tijuana, Baja California. Her parents were Guadalupe Lopez and Maria Zavala. Mayra had two sisters, Angelica and Diana. Her two nephews, Miguel and Jessica, were born to her sister Angelica. For her nephews, Mayra was more than an aunt, she was a best friend, advisor, confidant, someone who was always there for them. Mayra had two dogs that she loved and that brought her peace and happiness, “Pepe” and “Pancho”. Pepe and Pancho will be adopted by their aunts Angelica and Diana who will care for them and love them as Mayra would have wished. Mayra found love with her boyfriend Ben, whom she will care for and guide from Heaven. Mayra received her bachelor's degree in social work from Buena Vista University and her master's degree in social work from the University of Iowa. She worked as a therapist in and around the Storm Lake area. She was greatly appreciated by the community and the people who knew her. Maria and Mayra spent most of their lives together. They lived together for the last few years and it was God's will that together they went with Him. In Heaven, they will continue together taking care of each other, and having their occasional small fights that they used to have and reconciling because at the end of the day they loved each other with all their hearts. Mayra nacio el 10 de Diciembre de 1993 en Tijuana, Baja California. Sus padres fueron Guadalupe Lopez y Maria Zavala. Mayra tuvo dos hermanas, Angelica y Diana. De su hermana Angelica nacieron sus dos sobrinos, Miguel y Jessica. Para sus sobrinos, Mayra fue mas que una tia, fue una mejor amiga, consejera, confidente, alguien que siempre estuvo ahi para ellos. Mayra tenia dos perros a los que amaba y que le brindaban paz y felicidad, “Pepe” y “Pancho”. Pepe y Pancho seran adoptados por sus tias Angelica y Diana quien los cuidaran y amaran como Mayra lo hubiera deceado. Mayra conocio el amor con su novio Ben, a quien desde el Cielo cuidara y guiara. Mayra recivio su licenciatura en trabajo social de Buena Vista University y su maestria en trabajo social de University of Iowa. Ella trabajo como terapista en Storm Lake y sus alrededores. Ella fue muy apreciada por la comunidad y la gente que la conocian. Maria y Mayra pasaron la major parte de su vida juntas. Vivieron juntas por los untimos anos y fue la voluntad de Dios que juntas se fueran con El. En el Cielo continuaran juntas cuidandose cada una, y teniendo sus pequenas peleas ocasionales que solian tener y reconciliandose porque al final de cuentas se querian con todo el corazon.
