Maxine Mae Miller

Maxine Mae Miller, daughter of Albert and Elvina Dieterich Nielsen was born February 9, 1928 in Aurelia, Iowa. She passed away on October 20, 2013 at Providencia Assisted Living in Lewisville, Texas at the age of 85. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Maxine graduated from Aurelia High School in 1945. She attended 1 year at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls pursuing a degree in music. Maxine was united in marriage to Cecil Robert Miller on June 25, 1950. They spent the next 7 years farming in the Storm Lake area. They were active members of the Church of Christ, where Maxine served as organist and pianist. In 1957 they moved to Truro, Iowa where they farmed for the next 37 years. Maxine was a member of Eastern Star & organist/pianist for the local churches. In 1964, Maxine began working in Des Moines, IA as a bookkeeper for various firms. Cecil & Maxine sold the farm in 1994 and moved to West Des Moines where she continued to work a few more years before retiring. In May, 2004 Cecil & Maxine moved to Plano, TX to be closer to family. After Cecil’s death on April 3, 2005, Maxine lived with her daughter, Debby in Irving, TX. & in 2006, moved to Assisted Living. Maxine loved playing and teaching piano, spending time with family and friends & raising her 3 children. She was an avid reader and seamstress. Her favorite activities were playing piano, bridge club, & Scrabble. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-Lyle Nielsen and Dale Nielsen and wife Shirley; sister Shirley Miller. Her brother-in-law Bud Calvin Miller died on January 11, 2014. She is survived by sister-in-law, Maxine Miller of Spencer, IA; children, Debby Kruse and Bill of Grapevine, TX, Mark Miller of Los Angeles, CA, Melinda Brown and Jim of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Jodi Owens and Christian of Austin, TX, Stacey Hartung and Will of Carrollton, TX, Tyler Kruse and Adrianne of Keller, TX, Morgan Brown of Fredricksburg, VA, Mackenzie Brown of Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren- Cade and Layton Owens; Stone, Grant, Sullivan & Meyer Kate Kruse and many beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on November 2, 2013 in Bedford, TX
