Kenneth Russell

Kenneth Russell, age 65, of Storm Lake, Iowa died January 24, 2023 in Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services will take place Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, January 27, 2023 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Kenneth E. Russell was born April 12, 1957 in Manning, Iowa the son of Jack and Roberta (VanCleave) Russell. Growing up, Kenneth attended school at Yale-Jamaica-Bagley High School where he graduated in 1975. Following high school, Kenneth attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake where he graduated with a bachelor's degree. In 1980 he started with Bil-Mar Foods (Tyson Turkey). He worked 42 years holding various positions, most recently, a FSQA Associate Supervisor. On November 14, 1992, Kenneth was united in marriage to Deanna Reis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Together, they were blessed with four children: Amanda, Molly, Adam and James. Kenneth was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed coaching youth softball and baseball and officiating basketball and softball for many years. He was an Iowa Hawkeyes superfan, being a season football ticket holder for 35 years. He also enjoyed supporting his children as they competed in various sports and musical activities. In his younger years, he played slow pitch softball, affectionately known as “Ruske”. He was active within the community, member of the Storm Lake Sports Boosters, and enjoyed running the time clock for the Tornado football team. He had an affinity for Harley-Davidson and enjoyed taking motorcycle tours with his wife. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing. Family was very important to him and enjoyed the time spent with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and cherished his titles of “gampy”, “grampy”, and “boo boo”. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Deanna Russell of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Amanda (Nathan) Heilman; Molly (Austin) Brown; Adam (Ashley) Kelly; James (Cassidy) Russell; grandchildren: Adeline Heilman; Nolan Heilman; Reis Brown; Rylee Brown; Alexander Brown; Axel Brown; Wyatt Kelly; Hazel Russell; brother, Dan (Tammy) Russell; sisters-in-law: Christyne Hellebuyck and Kellie Russell; nieces; nephews; extended family and many friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Russell; parents: Jack and Roberta Russell; parents-in-law, Delmar and Arlene Reis; brother-in-law, Tim Reis.
