Kenneth J. Brabec

Kenneth J. Brabec, age 82, of Fonda, Iowa died April 29, 2021 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral Mass will take place Monday, May 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina, Iowa. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 3-5:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Kenneth J. Brabec was born October 9, 1938 in David City, Nebraska the son of Joe and Olga (Krenk) Brabec. Growing up, he was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed in the Catholic Church. He attended school at St. Columbkille in Varina where he graduated in 1956. Following high school graduation, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge. On December 28, 1963, Kenneth was united in marriage to Janet Garberding at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina. Together, they were blessed with four children: Patrick, Michael, Sharon, and Kathy. Kenneth was a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina where he was also a 4th Degree Knight. Kenneth had a passion for farming and being outdoors. He enjoyed competing in tractor pulls for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. Kenneth loved his family and especially attending sporting events of his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Pat (Angie) Brabec of Newell, Iowa; Mike Brabec of Fonda, Iowa; Sharon (Scott) Voss of Albert City, Iowa; Kathy (Gary) Mohr of Holstein, Iowa; grandchildren: Kelly (Kory) Petzenhauser, Tyler (Leslee) Reiter, Justin (Hali) Reiter, Brooke (Jeremy) Kent, Kailee Brabec, Bryan Brabec, Mareni Brabec, Jordan Voss, Haley Voss, Cody Voss, Joshua (Erin) Mohr, Jadyn (Stephen) Huber; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers: Dennis (Marcella) Brabec of Laurens, Iowa; Allan Brabec of Albert City, Iowa; extended family and many friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Olga Brabec; wife, Janet Brabec; and one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Boyd) Imhoff.
