James Kenneth Saltsman

James Saltsman, age 40, of Early, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his home in Early. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. James Kenneth Saltsman was born on October 16, 1974 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, the son of James Owen and Mary Louise (Priddy) Saltsman. James grew up in the in the Grayson County area, graduating from Grayson County High School in 1994. He was baptized and confirmed into the Baptist faith. On March 23, 1999, James married Edie House in Stones View, Kentucky. To this union, one child was born, Christopher. On July 8, 2006, James was united in marriage to Candi Higdon at the Hanging Rock Baptist Church in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Together they were blessed with two children: Allyison, and James Connor. James and his family lived in Leitchfield for the majority of his life, until their move to Early, Iowa. James raised baby turkeys for Hillshire, a job he really enjoyed. In his spare time, James loved to work on cars. He was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky, and could always be found watching their basketball games. Most of all, James loved and adored his wife and children. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Candi of Early, Iowa; children: Christopher Saltsman of Leitchfield, Kentucky; Allyison Saltsman of Early, Iowa; James Connor of Early, Iowa; sister, Jill Saltsman and her son, Jamie of Leitchfield, Kentucky; father-in-law, Wilbur Hack of Leitchfield, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Delta (Doug) Gulley and their children: Tyler, Megan, Maranda, Anthony, James David, D.J., Nevaeh, and Ben all of Early, Iowa; first wife, Edie Miller of Leitchfield, Kentucky; brother-in-law, Israel (Delena) Logsdon and their children: Nolan, Dylan, Trent, and Addi Logsdon; extended family and friends. James was preceded in death by his grandparents: Essie (Mary) Priddy, and John (Della Mae) Saltsman.
