Floyd Westbay

Floyd Westbay, age 80, of Newell, Iowa died on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Pomeroy Care Center in Pomeroy, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Floyd Eugene Westbay was born June 3, 1938 in Lamar, Missouri the son of Floyd and Mabel (McRae) Westbay. As an infant, he was baptized and later confirmed. Growing up, Gene attended school in Rockwell City, Iowa where he graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1957. On March 5, 1996, Gene was united in marriage to Mary Marlatt Rogness in Newell at their home. Gene was a member of Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed traveling down to Missouri. He also loved farming. Gene treasured spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Westbay of Newell, Iowa; children: Jerilynn (Roy) Bales of Early, Iowa; Timothy (Tina) Westbay of Cherokee, Iowa; Amy (Curt) Timmer of Schaller, Iowa; Toni Westbay of Early, Iowa; Shana (Don) Grause of Pomeroy, Iowa; grandchildren: Samantha Timmer of Schaller, Iowa; Matthew Timmer of Schaller, Iowa; Amanda Hughes of Rockwell City, Iowa; Logan Neiberger of Lake City, Iowa; Keeli (Drake) Larsen of Battle Creek, Iowa; Zachary Burns of Pomeroy, Iowa; Trenton DeMey of Pomeroy, Iowa; Hailea Grause of Pomeroy, Iowa; great grandchildren: Alainna Basey; Kyler Larsen and Kyle Evers; sisters: Jewell Ann Westbay of Rockwell City, Iowa; Linda (Jerry) Mosher of Rockwell City, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Carol (Marlowe) Timmer; Roberta (Paul) Lightfoot; Valerie Deal; brothers-in-law: Murray (Lamoon) Marlatt; Terry (Lynn) Marlatt; extended family and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Mabel Westbay; grandparents, Jim and Ruby Westbay; parents-in-law: John and Pearl Marlatt; and brother-in-law, Michael Deal.
