Wendell
Wilson Robinson was born on December 16, 1918 to DeLos and Mable
(Palmer) Robinson in Cook Township, rural Schaller, Sac County,
Iowa. He attended school through the 8th grade at Cook Township
Country School. He also attended upper grades at Schaller
Community School in Schaller, Iowa.
On February 7, 1944, Wendell was united in marriage to Norma Wright
at the United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. This union was blessed
with one daughter, Naomi.
Wendell farmed in Buena Vista and Sac Counties his
entire life, until his retirement to Storm Lake in 1984. He was a member of the
Presbyterian Church in Schaller, and later transferred his membership to the
Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. He was a member of the Odd
Fellows in Storm Lake, as well.
Wendell experienced great joy and satisfaction in working the land. He
took pride in farming and enjoyed working outdoors. He and Norma worked
side by side in the farming operation. He loved his family and cherished
the trips to visit Naomi at various locations in the United States.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years,
Norma, of Storm Lake; his daughter, Naomi J. Robinson of Storm Lake; one sister-in-law,
Ellen Gilbert of Middletown, Missouri; cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of
friends.
Preceding Wendell in death were his parents, DeLos and Mable Robinson;
and two brothers-in-law, Jim Gilbert and Robert Wright.
