Sidney F. Krebs

Sidney F. Krebs, age 63, of Storm Lake, Iowa died peacefully at his home with his family present on Sunday, March 30, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present from 5:00 to 8:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund for Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Hospice.

Sid was born on December 3, 1944 to Raymond “Swede” and Vesta (Paeper) Krebs in Storm Lake and was raised on the family farm near Varina, Iowa. He was baptized on December 31, 1944 at St. Columbkille Church in Varina and received his first communion there on May 6, 1951.

He attended grade school at Providence Consolidated School in Sulphur Springs, Iowa, and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1962. Following graduation, Sid attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.

On August 28, 1965, Sid eloped with Judith Mohr to Salem, South Dakota to wed. Shortly after marrying Judy, Sid was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, where he was a faithful member. To this union, three children were born in Storm Lake: Halley, Amy, and Mitchell.

Sid spent his entire professional career in the agricultural industry, retiring from Farmland Industries. He was a well-respected, well-liked colleague and enjoyed the relationships he developed over the years.

Sid had several hobbies and enjoyed all sorts of activities including his barn and horses, lake living, and he especially cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband of nearly forty- three years, father to three wonderful children and grandfather to five admiring grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy of Storm Lake; his children Halley (Steve) Lee of Pierre, South Dakota; Amy (David) Fordyce of Carroll, Iowa; and Mitchell Krebs of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, Sydney and Sawyer Lee; and Abbey, Jack and Joe Fordyce; a sister, Trudy (Leonard) Peterson of Storm Lake; a brother, Rex (Jennie) Krebs of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister, DeEtte (Don) Graham of Carson, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Ruth Mohr of Storm Lake; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Sid was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Vesta.
