Rosalie L. Veerhusen, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home at 1615 West Milwaukee Ave in Storm Lake where the family will be present to greet friends.

Rosalie Lorraine DeVolder was born on July 5, 1927 to Octave and Marie (Doyle) DeVolder in Pomeroy, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed as a youth. Rosalie attended school in Pomeroy, graduating from Pomeroy High School. Following graduation, she attended Business School in Des Moines.

On February 20, 1951, Rosalie was united in marriage to Darold Veerhusen. This union was blessed with two children: Dan and Laurie.

Rosalie worked at Commercial Bank in Storm Lake as a teller, helped at the family business, Lake Hardware and Sporting Goods and later worked at Sugar Bowl Gift Shop. She was most devoted in her work as a homemaker, where she cherished her time with her children and grandchildren and made a warm and comfortable home for them.

Over the years, Rosalie delighted in family visits and will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake. In her spare time, Rosalie enjoyed needlework and reading.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Dan Veerhusen and his wife, Sara of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Laurie Wilcox and her husband, Carl of Haxtun, Colorado; grandchildren: Andrea and Matthew Wilcox of Haxtun, Colorado; two brothers: Paul DeVolder and his wife, Meryle of Storm Lake, Iowa and Dan DeVolder and his wife, Joann of Alexandria, Minnesota; one sister, Joan Miller of Storm Lake; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Sanders of Bettendorf, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darold; brother, John DeVolder; infant brother, Dennis DeVolder; and brothers-in-law: Joe Sanders and Mel Miller.
