Nelson Antonio Rivas, age 46, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Services for Mr. Rivas will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m., followed by the recitation of the Rosary.

Nelson Antonio Rivas was born January 10, 1962 in San Salvador, El Salvador, the son of Ramon Campos and Natalia Rivas. He was baptized and confirmed in 1967 in San Salvador.

Nelson was united in marriage to Maria Elena Escalante. They were blessed with two daughters, Nancy and Kelly.

He enjoyed traveling, fixing cars, NASCAR racing and taking road trips. Nelson loved his family and treasured every moment he spent with them. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Maria Elena Rivas of Storm Lake; his children: Nancy Areli Rivas and Kelly Lillibeth Rivas, both of Storm Lake; Karen Rivas and Nelson Rivas, both of California; his parents, Ramon Campos and Natalia Rivas of San Salvador, El Salvador; grandchildren: Frankie Palacio and Alex Rivas, Jr.; brother Sammy Rivas of California; sister Ana Rivas of California; two nieces: Zalene Suyza and Joceln Yvett; three nephews: Alex Rivas, Sergio Marquez and Ricardo Marquez; extended family and many friends.

Nelson was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, his maternal grandparents, and his granddaughter, Destiny Rivas.
