Richard Broders
Funeral Service will be Monday, November 12, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. Burial will be in the Ida Grove Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Schaller is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Sunday, November 11, 2007 from 4-7:00 p.m. with family present 6-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller. Richard was born July 8, 1925 in Danbury, Iowa to Richard and Christine (Thompson) Broders. He was baptized on October 12, 1930 and later confirmed in 1939 at the Battle Creek Lutheran Church. He received his education at Battle Creek country school and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1940. Richard was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. On October 17, 1948, Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Van Griethuysen in Battle Creek, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three children: Timothy Richard, Jonathan Hale and Megan Ann. Richard enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos and fishing. Family was always first in Richard’s life, and he treasured every moment he was able to share with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Barbara Ann, of Schaller; his daughter, Megan McGowan and her husband Shawn of Aurelia, Iowa; three grandchildren: Christine (Broders) Box and her husband Cody, Caitlin (McGowan) Kaiser and her husband Nathan and Jessy Swanson; two sisters: Dorothy Hansen and Arlene Griese; extended family and many friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; grandson, Josh McGowan; and brother, George Broders. |
