M.R. "Pete" Pederson went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 22, 2007. 

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with Reverend Steven Schulz officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery with full military rites by the AMVETS Post #66. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call anytime after 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Concordia Lutheran School in Storm Lake, to establish a scholarship fund.

Pete was born on March 25, 1917 near Centerville, South Dakota to parents Peder M. Pederson and Bertha (Hennrichs) Pederson. Pete was baptized in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Centerville, South Dakota on April 22, 1917. He was confirmed there on September 28, 1930. He graduated from Lennox (S.D.) High School in 1935. In 1940 he received his B.S. degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and then in 1941 received his M.S. degree in Statistics from Denver University. He received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army in 1942. Before he left for the war, he married his sweetheart, Glennys Corderman, on July 17, 1942 in Glendale, California. As a division supply officer Captain Pete served with the 3rd Army with General Patton and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944.

From 1945-49 Pete worked at International Harvestor in Chicago, IL. In 1949 the family moved to a farm located between Storm Lake and Newell where he was a dairy and grain farmer. In 1963 they began building their own home located on Parkview Drive in Storm Lake. Pete then worked for Pepper Construction Co. in Storm Lake from 1964 until he retired in 1981.

Pete was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake and helped to build the new church in 1952. In response to God’s love for him, Pete joyfully served on various church boards and committees throughout the years – especially as financial secretary for many years. He vigorously participated in the establishment of Concordia Lutheran School in Storm Lake in 2000.

He celebrated his 90th birthday in March with a flag dedication ceremony at Lake Pointe Villa where he most recently resided.

Those thankful for having shared in Pete’s life include his loving wife of almost 65 years, Glennys, of Lake Pointe Villa in Storm Lake; his two children, Marlene (Paul) Armbrecht of Rockwell City; and Ted (Trudee) Pederson of Jewell; nine grandchildren, Eric (Jenni) Armbrecht of Ames; Todd Armbrecht of Des Moines; Tobee (Will) Andersen of Peoria, AZ; Amy (Bill) Sadera of Baltimore, MD; Tabitha Pederson of Chicago, IL; Alyssa (Scott) Randall of Plymouth, MN; Tate Pederson of Minneapolis, MN; Tony Pederson of Omaha, NE; Aaron Armbrecht, of Ames; and two great grandbabies, Will Sadera and Emma Armbrecht.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emmett, Lloyd, and Eldon Pederson; sister-in-law, Edith Pederson; and two nephews, Wesley Pederson and Gene Pederson.
