William “Bill” McMullen, age 79, o f Webb, Iowa, died Monday, September 4, 2006 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, with Reverend Moody Colorado officiating. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery prior to memorial services.

Friends may call Wednesday, September 5, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present.

William Neal McMullen was born February 23, 1927 in Royal, Iowa to Edward Neal and Buena Pearl (Richardson) McMullen. He was baptized as an infant into the Christian faith in Royal. Bill attended grade school in Greenville and Webb, Iowa before graduating from Providence Consolidated High School in Sulphur Springs, Iowa. Following high school, Bill served in the United States Army during World War II.

On October 21, 1949, Bill was united in marriage to Carol Bryant at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with three children: Kathryn, Thomas and Michael. Bill spent his life working the land and living on the farm. He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, where he taught Sunday School and served as a Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the American Legion, as well as a member and longtime secretary of Perfection Lodge 651 in Webb.

Bill’s first priority, however, was always his family, whom he loved, and he treasured any time spent with them. In his later years, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, a caring brother and uncle, and a valued friend to all.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Carol McMullen of Webb; daughter Kathryn (Ian) Hermann of Columbia, Missouri; son Thomas McMullen of Spencer, Iowa; son Michael McMullen of Webb; grandchildren: Rachel Hermann and Sharon (Brad) Stevenson, of Columbia, Missouri; Almeda Marie (Patrick) McDonald of Herndon, Virginia; Erin McMullen of Des Moines, Iowa; and Christopher McMullen of Greenville, Iowa; great-grandchildren Ethan and Ariah; sister Mary Lou (John) Miller of Clive, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law; Dick and Sharon Bryant of Harcourt, Iowa; Jean Webb of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Roberta and Bob Raab of Shoreview, Minnesota; a niece and many nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
