Virginia Maxine Burkhart was born February 12, 1925 in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of A. C. and Jennie (Crane) Burkhart. She grew up in her parents home and graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee, Iowa. On September 19, 1942, Virginia was united in marriage to Donald Hussey in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with two children: Richard and Patricia.

Virginia was a busy mother and business owner, first raising her family and then working at her Mode-O-Day women’s shop in Storm Lake. She also was a partner with her husband in their trucking firm. A member of the Methodist Church, Virginia also found her membership in the Order of Eastern Star very meaningful.  She and Don loved to go camping and enjoyed traveling. They were founding members of the Stormy Water Rollers Good Sam Camping Club. When they weren’t taking the grandkids camping, they were following their activities. And wherever there was a good game of Bingo, you’d find Virginia. But most dear to her heart was her family. She treasured every moment she spent in the company of her loved ones.

Left to cherish Virginia’s memory are her husband of 64 years, Donald of Storm Lake; her daughter, Pat (Dennis) Fisher of Lakeside, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Donna Hussey of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Kris (Matt) Pearson of Storm Lake; Kim Hussey of Storm Lake; Steve (Amber) Hussey of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Brian Fisher of Grimes, Iowa; Matt (Amanda) Fisher of Newell, Iowa and Mel Fisher of  Storm Lake; great-grandchild, Kile Hussey of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; extended family and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dick Hussey; her grandson, Gregory Ryan Fisher; her brothers Carvel and Clayton (Mick); and her infant sister, Hazel.
