Richard Inman
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Duane Queen officiating. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will greet friends from 7-8:00 pm. Richard Royce Inman was born in Storm Lake on April 21, 1920 to Clifford and Nellie (Bair) Inman. He spent his childhood in Storm Lake and attended school there, graduating from Storm Lake High School with the Class of 1937. He continued his education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for another year. On June 9, 1939, Richard was united in marriage to Doris Laurene Sundberg at her parents’ home in Linn Grove. They were blessed with two sons, James and David. Richard and Doris would have celebrated 67 years together this year on their wedding anniversary in June. World War II came and Richard enlisted to serve his country during the war years. He was honorably discharged on March 25, 1946. Richard was an electrician by trade until his retirement. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, the local rifle club and the AmVets in Storm Lake. Richard was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian faith, baptized as an infant and a member at Lakeside Presbyterian in Storm Lake at the time of his death. He also served his church as an Elder. Richard had many interests. He enjoyed antique automobiles, especially his 1937 Ford. He also liked motorcycles and was a student of aviation. He liked the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris of Storm Lake; son James Inman of St. Petersburg, Florida; son David Inman of Storm Lake; granddaughter Stephanie (Brian) Johnson of Sehastopal, California; great-granchildren Ali, Mitchell and Andrew, all of Sehastopal, California; brother-in-law John D. (Margaret) Sundberg of Eagle Grove, Iowa; sister-in-law Donna (Arnie) Hicks of Linn Grove, Iowa; extended family and a host of friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Nellie Inman and his grandparents. |
