Marcella Theresa Dugan
Funeral Mass for Mrs. Dugan will be celebrated on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, with Father Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Friends may call on Thursday, November 9, 2006 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present. A Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m., both at the funeral home. Marcella was born December 17, 1909 in Oyens, Iowa to Peter and Josephine (Hames) Feller. She grew up in the Oyens and LeMars communities. Marcella graduated from LeMars Central High School with a normal teaching certificate. She later attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake to renew her teaching certificate. She was a substitute teacher in the Storm Lake area. On January 15, 1929, Marcella married Eugene V. Dugan of Kingsley, Iowa at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens. Five children were born to their union. The couple farmed in the Granville, Iowa area and in 1946 they purchased the Lakeside Stock Farm in Storm Lake. Marcella and Eugene worked side by side to produce, and exhibit throughout the United States, world class champion purebred livestock. After 53 years of marriage, Marcella lost her beloved Gene in 1982. Marcella enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, music, dancing and crocheting. She was active in the Storm Lake Senior Citizens. Marcella loved God and her religion. She was a devout member of Storm Lake St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had a special devotion to the rosary. She cherished her family and enjoyed Sunday dinner gatherings at her home. Her grandchildren will always remember the time they spent with Grandma and Grandpa and the ice cream, cakes, cookies and watermelon they shared. Marcella treasured her longtime, close friends and the time she was able to spend with them. Survivors include one son, Donald Dugan and Mildred Farr of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters: Loretta and her husband Allan Tobin of Sioux City, Iowa, and Marilyn Harrington-Dugan of Omaha, Nebraska; a daughter-in-law, Florence Dugan of Marshalltown, Iowa; a sister, Dorothy Wallin of Yucaipa, California; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and many friends. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; her daughter, Irene; her son, Joseph; her brothers, Joe Feller and Pete Feller; and her sister, Rose Schilmoeller. |
