Lyle Rachuy of Storm Lake, Iowa died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Connie Spitzack and Reverend Mark Youngquist officiating. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Monday, October 30, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

On November 1, 2006 a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Trinity American Lutheran Church Chapel in Waterloo, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the Church Chapel. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is also in charge of the arrangements.

Lyle was born November 11, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa to Walter and Harriet (Comfort) Rachuy. He received his education in Waterloo, where he graduated with the Class of 1953 from Waterloo West High School. He elected to continue his education at Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. During his time at Iowa State, Lyle was a member of the Iowa State Baseball team and Pi Mu Epsilon Math Honorary.

On September 18, 1960, Lyle was united in marriage to Shirley A. Bearbower in Ames, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Sandra, Scott, David and Karla.

Lyle was an active member of the community, serving in many different venues. He was on the Board of Trustees at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center from 1993-present, Chairman from 1999-2001, currently the Secretary, as well as serving previously as both the Vice Chairman and Treasurer. In addition, Lyle was on the Board of Trustees at Methodist Manor from 1991-1999, Board of Directors at Lake Creek Country Club, where he had been a member since 1975; past member of Storm Lake Rotary Club, having served as the president for one year; past member of the Board of Directors of the Storm Lake Industrial Corporation.

Lyle was the District Manager of MidAmerican Energy in Storm Lake, prior to his retirement on January 31, 1992.

Over the years, Lyle enjoyed playing golf, watching sports on T.V., computer activities and traveling. Above all, Lyle treasured his family and the time he spent with them. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. His presence will be missed in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Shirley Rachuy of Storm Lake; children: Scott Rachuy and his wife Kathy of Ankeny, Iowa, David Rachuy and his wife Cathyrn of West Des Moines, Karla Bond and her husband, Robert of Urbandale, Iowa; three grandchlildren: Cody Rachuy, Trevor Rachuy, and Margret Rachuy; many other family members and a host of friends.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Harriet Rachuy and his daughter, Sandra Rachuy.
