Kenneth W. Stille

Kenneth W. Stille, age 78, of Schaller, Iowa died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at his home in rural Schaller, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller with Pastor David Lyons officiating.  Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery with military honors presented by the Schaller VFW.

Friends may call Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from 4-8:00 pm at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller, where the family will be present from 6-8:00 pm.   The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth William Stille was born January 4, 1928, in Buena Vista County, Iowa, the son of William and Lillie (Offerle) Stille. He received his country school education from Maple Valley #7.

Kenneth was baptized on March 4, 1928 and confirmed in May of 1941 at Immanuel Reformed Church of Christ in rural Schaller.

Kenneth served in the United States Army in the mid-forties at Camp Carson, Colorado and Fort Riley, Kansas.

On February 20, 1950, Kenneth was united in marriage to Arletta Wendel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller.  This union was blessed with three daughters: Ruth Ann, Beverly and Linda.

Kenneth farmed in rural Schaller, where he found great satisfaction in working the land.  In addition, he loved gardening, fishing and playing baseball.  He played for the Schaller Red Caps and the Storm Lake White Caps in the late 1940s, and fondly reflected on these times.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and served as a church elder.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Arletta Stille; daughters: Ruth Ann Bauman and her husband Duane of Sac City, Iowa, Beverly Stille of Cincinnati, Ohio and Linda Stille of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren: Denise Mustaine and her husband Jon; Stacey Bauman and Lisa Scuito; great-grandchildren: Rylan, Grace and Taylor Mustaine and Ashton Scuito; four brothers: Marvin Stille and his wife Molly, Richard Stille and his wife Connie, Russell Stille, and Howard Stille and his wife Mary; two sisters: Jeanette and her husband Don Carter and Dorothy and her husband Melvin Ploeger; one sister-in-law, Mary Stille (wife of Donald); nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Clarabelle; brother Donald Stille; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Jean Stille and Patricia Stille.
